The Big Stone Walleye Club has partnered with Big Stone American Legion to maintain the rearing ponds!

The Big Stone Walleye Club assisted the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks with netting Bluegills from the Big Stone Power Plant and releasing them in the SD rearing ponds. Dylan Arndt, Tanner Arndt and Drew Danielson were the crew that was helping. The walleye club has involved area youth in the recent acquiring of the Bluegill stocking responsibilities. We netted and released over 800 bluegills and will release them into Big Stone Lake in Septemeber after they have reproduced. Most baby bluegills that are released are about the size of a silver dollar. The walleye club also plans to reserect the planting of christmas trees in the lake for more habitat!
