KUEFLER & HANSON WIN WEEK 4
Todd Kuefler and Brian Hanson took top honors in week 4 weighing 4 fish for 10.97lbs. Close behind was last years league champions Dan Sunne and Todd Sprung with 4 fish weighing 10.57lbs, In third place was Team Trienen which was represented by Nate Trienen and his grandpa Rollie Karels. They weighed 4 fish for 7.99 pounds. In King of the Hill action next week the final four will be John Meyer/Jeff Anderson vs the Robinsons and Dylan and Tanner Arndt vs Todd Kuefler and Brian Hanson.
WEEK 3 ROBINSONS HIT BIG…AGAIN!
In week 3 action Rick and Dillon Robinson struck another big basket of 4 fish weighing 11.65! These two guys have now moved from zero to hero and are sitting in first place overall as well. In second place was Dexter and Kuefler weighing 4 fish for 10.89 pounds. A record 44 fish were brought in to the scales by 19 teams. An intersting statistic about how good the bite is this year is with 19 teams, this year the league has already caught more fish in 3 weeks then the entire 6 week league in 2010 with 23 teams! In King of the Hill action there was several upsets:) We won’t go into details on that…
WEEK 2 ROBINSONS MAKE A STATEMENT!
The first year league father/son team came back strong after a first week zero in week 2 action. They weighed 4 fish for 12.50 pounds. These two guys are no strangers to Big Stone Lake and have been very competitive in fishing tournaments on Big Stone Lake for many years! Rumor is it was dad (Rick) that picked the spot and caught all the fish. In second place was was Team Roelke with 4 fish for 9.47 and in third was Dan Sunne and Todd Sprung with 4 fish for 9.21 which also pushed them into first place overall! Rankings are now set for the King of the Hill tournament.

Giese and Giese (Huebner) off to a great start!
In week one action of the Big Stone Walleye League Tim Giese and Grump Giese came out on top weighing a 4 fish limit for a whopping 12.34 pounds! In their limit they also had one walleye that went just over 6 pounds. In second place was team Jim Hartman and Paul Amdahl. They weighed 4 fish for 10.86 pounds. The stable weather is to thank for one of the best nights of league ever. 19 teams fishing and 42 walleyes were caught. The league pays out nightly to the top 5 teams and it should be noted there was 2 teams that had 4 fish limits for 7+ pounds that did not even make the money! Next week will complete the rankings for the King of the Hill competition.

2010 FINAL STANDINGS
ROELKE/MADSEN WIN…….AGAIN!
Congrats to Scott Roelke and Greg Madsen on their 3rd win this year. They brought in 4 walleyes for 10.10 lbs. which also gave them 3rd place overall on the year. 2nd place for the night and the year went to Artie Arndt and Eric Brandriet. They netted 3 nice walleyes for 9.67 lbs and won the KING OF THE HILL tournament. In 3rd place for the night and claiming the League Champions title was Dan Sunne and Todd Sprung with 4 fish for 8.81lbs. This years league is now complete and was one of the best years ever as far as numbers of fish caught. 176 walleyes were weighed at an average of 1.98 lbs. per fish. The Big Stone Walleye Club would like to thank all of their sponsors. The end of the year party will be held in July at the Tim Giese residence, date and time tba.
SUNNE/SPRUNG SET 2 NEW LEAGUE RECORDS!
Week 5 was huge for Dan Sunne and Todd Sprung! They netted a 4 fish limit for a all-time league record of 15.71 with a record setting 8.55lb walleye! This big weight also gives them over a 6 lb lead going into the final week. In second place this week was Artie Arndt and Eric Brandriet with a 9.18 lb. basket. In King of the Hill action it will be Huebner/Giese vs Arndt/Brandriet for the championship next week. In the overall standings 3.5 lbs seperates 2nd – 5th place which will make next week very interesting!
Graf and Schultz prove consistant!
Week four was another great week with 8 teams bringing in a 4 fish limit! A total of 39 fish were brought in averaging just over 2lbs. Team Graf/Schultz took top honors with 4 fish for 11.10 lbs, which also gives them the top spot in the overall standings! In 2nd place was Jim Hartman and Paul Amdahl with 4 fish for 10.87 and they also had the first “Big Fish” of the year with a 6.87lb walleye. In King of the Hill action it will be Team Vandover vs. Arndt/Brandriet and Berger/Heck vs. Geise/Huebner in the final four next week. The weather was cool with 15-25 mph Northeast winds. The bite on Big Stone continues to be good!
SUNNE & SPRUNG STRIKE BIG!
Week 3 was a great week for fishing! Temps in the low 70′s and a Southeast wind of 15-25mph and steady weather netted a total of 40 walleyes averaging nearly 2lbs per fish. Dan Sunne and Todd Sprung lead the night with a repectable 4 fish limit for 11.74 lbs. In second place with another nice limit was Rich Huebner fishing with substitute Pete Karels for 10.59 lbs. A total of 5 teams weighed a 4 fish limit!
ROELKE/MADSEN DOMINATE AGAIN!
Scott Roelke and Greg Madsen had another great week weighing 4 fish for 10.57lbs. Fishing overall was good with the entire league catching 30 walleyes! Fishing was good from the islands all the way up to fish creek. Many league fishermen think next week the big walleyes will start biting. King of the Hill action will start next week. ROELKE/MADSEN WIN WEEK 1
Little to no wind and a beautiful night turned into another cold front at 8pm, but Team Scott Roelke and Greg Madsen managed to win the night with 2 fish for 4.52 lbs. Most boats made the claim of using a lot of gas. In second place was Team Dallas Roggeman and Bill Schellberg weighing 3 fish for 4.29 lbs. Third place went to the new Team of Jackson Graf and Eric Schults with 2 fish for 4.00 lbs. and Artie Arndt and Eric Brandriet got 4th place with 1 fish for 2.70 lbs. WEEK 6 – Kuefler/Hansen connect with 4 fish!
Week 6 was another tough week with only 10 fish caught and nearly half on them by Todd Kuefler and Brian Hansen. They weighed in 4 fish for 8.05lbs. According to Todd, this was a nice week after losing a 1st place fish at the boat last week. In King of the Hill action Schellberg/Roggeman took the Championship title with 1 for fish for 1.33lbs over Arndt/Brandriet with zero. The Team of the year standings for this years years teams which will be receiving plaques and Cabelas NTC entries are 1st place – Arndt/Brandriet 35.21lbs, 2nd place – Roggeman/Schellberg 25.86lbs, 3rd Place Torgerson/VanHout 21.00lbs. The Big Stone Walleye Club will be holding the end of the year party at Tim Giese’s house on August 11 at 6pm. It will be a potluck snack and bring your gun and ammo for a clay pigeon shoot with cards and dice to follow. Thank you to all teams who participated in this years league, it was a record breaking year with 46 fishermen!
Week 5 – 2.89lbs wins $300 for Hartman and Amdahl
Week 5 was again tough fishing. Big Stone has transitioned into a day bite more than a night bite. Several anglers reported having their fish by 7pm or shortly after and nothing after 8pm. 12 fish were caught with a 1.59lb average size. In the King of the Hill tournament it will be Arndt/Brandriet vs. Schellberg/Roggeman for the championship next week. The highlight of the night was that Greg Peterson brought one of Carlos Huebners kids (not sure on the name) out fishing during league and they caught several fish. The walleye club is taking donations for Carlos Huebners family. The club also cleaned the nights fish and will be donating them to the silent auction at Carlos’s benefit which is still TBA. If you would like to donate money call Artie at 605-880-8892. The card will be sent by Friday.
Sampson and Ackerman Take Week 4!
Fishing on Big Stone has improved with more 14-18 inch walleyes being caught. A total of 26 walleyes were caught this week averaging 1.80 lbs. Team Scott Sampson and Jason Ackermann topped the scales with a 4 fish limit for 9.30 lbs, good for $300. Second place went to Jim Hartman and Paul Amdahl with 4 fish for 5.97lbs., and they are working there way up the standings. The King of the Hill is now down to the Final Four. Next week Arndt and Brandriet will battle Forrette and Forrette and in the bottom bracket it will be Roggeman and Schellberg going against Oakes and Andreisen. The overall winners will receive a $200 Bud’s Bait gift certificate and 2 windshirts and second place will get a $100 gift certificate. There is only 2 weeks left of league.
WEEK 3 – A Tough Bite
Week three was the worst bite so far this year with a total 17 fish caught by 9 teams. The water temps have warmed up to the 70 degree plus range and the lake was very calm. Here are the results from week 3:

TRIENEN’S SCORE BIG ON WEEK 2!
Fishing on Big Stone really picked up for week 2! MaryKate and Paul Trienen won week 2 with 2 fish for a whopping 13.97 lbs! (Rumor is Mary Kate caught them both). 2nd Place went to Artie Arndt and Eric Brandriet with 2 fish for 11.58lbs (Big Fish 8.25lbs). 3rd Place was Dallas Roggeman and Bill Schellberg with 4 fish for 9.59lbs. 4th Place went to Greg Peterson and Mary Amberg with 1 big fish at 7.62lbs. 5th Place was Pete Karels and Rich Huebner with 3 fish for 6.95lbs. A total of 32 fish weighing 89.31lbs, an average size of 2.79lbs per fish.
The Big Stone Walleye Club hosts a 6 week walleye league that runs on Wednesday nights. There are 23 teams competing in this years league. The fishing hours are 6:30 – 9:30 pm and the public is invited to watch the weighins that begin at 9:30pm. Each team is allowed to weigh 4 walleyes with a 14 inch minimum and only 2 walleyes can be over 20 inches. Come on down and watch the weighins!
